Many scam victims report their experiences to the Federal Trade Commission and other agencies. In turn the agencies publish the information on their websites for viewing by anyone at no charge. The Federal Trade Commission has been described as a “Consumer’s Watchdog”. It has authority to shut down scam operators. It can at times cause a return of money to an owner who has been scammed.
